Ron Radice

Ron is a principal partner of Software Technology Transition.

Ron was the Director of the Software Process Program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Software Engineering Institute is a federally funded research and development center operated by Carnegie Mellon University under contract to the U.S. Department of Defense.

Prior to working at the Software Engineering Institute, Ron was the Director of Software Resources at Groupe Bull for three years where he was responsible for software engineering training, process, and metrics programs. He previously worked for 23 years at IBM in both technical and managerial positions. His last position at IBM was as manager of internal CASE tools and methods for System/370 software development systems and application solutions. He managed a budget of over $24 million with approximately 250 people in 8 different worldwide IBM locations.

While at IBM Ron worked with Mike Fagan to develop the software inspection method for code and design. He was primary in establishing IBM's software process and quality directions. During the 1980's his team developed the site assessment method and related model, the precursors to the CBA IPI assessment method and CMM used and deployed by the SEI for assessing commercial and government software organizations.

Ron has co-authored one book in Software Engineering: An Industrial Approach and he recently authored ISO9001: Interpreted for Software Organizations.   His new book: High Quality Low Cost Software Inspections is available for ordering. He is presently working on two other books with the working titles of Software Metrics: a Practical Approach and Level 5: Imagine the Possibilities.

From 1984-1988 Ron taught software engineering on the graduate level at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute while still with IBM.

Ron is a member of the American Society for Quality Engineers, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the IEEE.
